ArchitectureLog cabins were among the very first housing strategies used by settlers in the thirteen colonies. Later, farming became popular in Delaware, thus, farmhouses were important and widely used.
Our beautiful yet simple architecture makes living here simply fantastic and relaxing. |
ArtTo the left is a sculpture on Fort Christina, representing the Swedish colonists whom settled in America. The ship at the top represents the Kalmar Nyckel, one of the first vessels to bring Swedish to America.
To the right is a painting , called the Treaty of Penn, which represents William Penn's encounter with the Natives. We have VERY creative artists and sculptors along with beautiful art in our colony to add as a nice decoration to your homes! |
Food/ClothingThe Delaware colony is also known as a breadbasket colony, which means that wheat and flour is exported to England and is one of the colonists' main source of income.
Often, settlers in the Middle Colonies would dress such that their clothing was not too fancy, but it was presentable. (Ex: Women would not wear anything too frilly, etc.) Our HUGE variety of food is immensely beneficial and you won't have to stress about wearing the right clothing! Just go for simple! |
